Daftari (“the app”) is a debt notebook. Your book is kept on your phone. If you choose to share it with your staff, a copy is kept on our server so that everyone in the book sees the same customers and entries. “We” means the developer of Daftari; you can reach us at hello@younes.app.
In short
- Without a shared book, everything stays on your phone: no account, no server, no analytics.
- Shared books are optional. Turning one on means signing in with Google and uploading the whole book to our server (Google Firebase, in Belgium), where every member of the book can read it.
- Shared books are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Photos you attach to entries never leave your phone.
- No ads, no selling or sharing data with advertisers or data brokers, no tracking across other apps.
1. On your phone
The customers, phone numbers, amounts, notes, photos and settings you enter are stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. If you don’t use a shared book, that is the only place they are kept: we don’t collect anything.
2. Shared books
A shared book lets a shop owner and their staff use one book, each from their own phone. It is optional and needs a Google account.
Signing in
Signing in uses Google sign-in through Firebase Authentication, which gives us your name, email address and a random account ID. Everyone in a shared book sees the other members’ names and email addresses.
What is uploaded
When the owner shares a book, the whole book on their phone is uploaded, and from then on every change made on any member’s phone is synced:
- customers: name, phone number, note, due date and when a reminder was last sent;
- entries: amounts, currencies, notes, dates, and the exchange rates and fees of conversions;
- the book’s business name, exchange rate, currency and payment details;
- the members of the book and their roles (owner or staff), and invite codes;
- a log of who added, changed or deleted which customer or entry, and when.
Photos and your logo are not uploaded; they stay on the phone that added them.
Who can see it
Every member of the book, owner and staff, can read the whole book in the app. Staff can add customers and entries; everything else is the owner’s. The book is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, run by Google for us, in the europe-west1 region (Belgium).
Shared books are not end-to-end encrypted: the book is not locked with a key that only your phones hold, so it can be read on our server. We use it only to keep the book in step between your phones, and we don’t share it with anyone except Google as our service provider.
Staff phones
While someone is staff in a book, their phone keeps a copy of the shop’s book, and Daftari’s automatic backups skip it. When they leave, or the owner takes them off the book, the shop’s book is removed from their phone and their own book comes back.
How long it is kept
Nothing in a shared book is erased on its own: deleting a customer or an entry marks it as deleted, and the log keeps every change, so the owner can always see what happened. When the owner stops sharing, the staff are taken off the book and its copy stays on our server until the owner asks us to delete it.
3. When data leaves your phone
- In a shared book, as described in section 2.
- When you choose to send it: a WhatsApp/SMS reminder, a PDF statement or a backup file, through the app you pick.
- On Android, Auto Backup may copy the app’s data to your Google account; on iPhone, iCloud Backup may include it. Both are controlled by your phone’s settings, not by us.
- Purchases of Daftari Pro are processed by Google Play or the App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
4. Photos and camera
If you attach a photo to an entry (for example an invoice), the app opens your camera app or the system photo picker, and only the picture you take or choose is copied into the app’s private storage. Photos are not uploaded anywhere, even in a shared book, are not part of Android Auto Backup, iCloud Backup or backup files, and are deleted with their entry.
5. Notifications
If you set a due date, the app can show one morning notification listing balances that are due. It is created on your phone; nothing is sent to a server. You can turn it off in your phone’s notification settings.
6. Contacts
When you use “Pick from phone contacts”, your phone gives the app only the one contact you pick. The app does not read your contact list.
7. Who receives your data
- Google, as our service provider for shared books: Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. See Firebase privacy and the Google Privacy Policy.
- The members of your shared book, if you use one.
- Google Play or the App Store, for purchases.
We don’t sell your data, share it with advertisers or use it for ads. The app has no ads.
8. Deleting your data
- On your phone: delete customers inside the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
- A shared book or your account: write to hello@younes.app from the email of your Google account. We delete it within 30 days and reply to confirm. An owner can ask us to delete their shared book and everything in it. If you were staff, we delete your sign-in and take you off the book; the customers and entries you added belong to the shop’s book and stay with it.
9. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it, by writing to hello@younes.app from the email of your Google account. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may also complain to your data protection authority.
10. Children
Daftari is not made for children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we’ll delete it.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. For important changes we’ll also tell you in the app.
